Approvals GM Dexos Motor Oil

GM Dexos 1

Designed with gasoline engines in mind GM Dexos 1 replaces the GM-LL-A-025, GM6094M and GM4718M specifications. This specification is usually recommended for GM vehicles built for the North American and Asian markets. Compared to ILSAC GF-5 it has stricter requirements regarding piston deposit formation, aeration, oxidation stability, wear, low-temperature pumpability and volatility.

GM Dexos 2

The GM Dexos 2 specification is meant to be the replacement for both GM-LL-A-025 (gasoline) and GM-LL-B-025 (diesel) specifications for the European market. Oils meeting GM Dexos 2 are required for vehicles manufactured from MY2011 onward but they are also backward compatible with older models. This specification is built on the ACEA C3 standard but also contains elements from the ILSAC GF-4 deposit formation test and low-temperature sludge build-up test.

GM-LL-A-025

Special GM approval for long-life engine oil for gasoline engines. Viscosity is SAE 0W-30. Product meets ACEA A3/B3. Drain interval can be as long as 30 000 kms. Recommended for vehicles built before MY2011.

GM-LL-B-025

Special GM approval for long-life engine oil for diesel engines. Viscosity is SAE 5W-40. Product meets ACEA A3/B3/B4. Drain interval can be as long as 50 000 kms. Recommended for vehicles built before MY2011.

Buick Century Generations

Buick Century 2005 (2005), 14 generation

There are no significant changes this year.

Buick Century 2004 (2004), 13 generation

The Century has been a long-time rival of the full-size Buick LeSabre in the race to be the most popular Buick model. In its regular form, the Century front bench seat provides six-passenger capacity, which is offered on only a handful of midsize models.

Buick Century 2003 (2003), 12 generation

Antilock brakes are no longer standard for the 2003 model year. The Century body gets a fresh look with a new graphite/chrome grille, chrome door-header openings, and new body-colored fascias and side molding. Additional interior trim padding aims to improve head-impact protection. New wood-grain switch plate covers are installed, and two new body colors will be offered.

Buick Century 2002 (2002), 11 generation

Despite the fact that the Century is similar in style to the more nimble Regal, it has a different grille, rear design elements, bodywork and wheels. This makes it relatively easy to tell them apart at a glance. Both Buicks are four-door sedans and have a 109-inch wheelbase, but at 194.6 inches long, the Century is slightly shorter than the Regal. Both models are 72.7 inches wide and 56.6 inches high. Painted aluminum rims are now available in a special Appearance Package.

Buick Century 2001 (2001), 10 generation

The Century vies with the full-size LeSabre in a race to be Buick most popular model. It is based on the same design as the Regal, also a midsize sedan, but caters to an older crowd with more conservative styling and a front bench seat that gives it six-passenger capacity. A 175-horsepower 3.1-liter V-6 engine and a four-speed automatic transmission comprise the only powertrain for the Century. The similar Regal comes with a 3.8-liter V-6.

Buick Century 2000 (2000), 9 generation

Century accelerates great, the engine is quieter than before. The transmission shifts quickly to a higher gear, which provides excellent fuel economy for a midsize car with a V-6 engine. Most highway driving yielded 28.5 miles per gallon on regular unleaded gasoline. The front split seat was as comfortable as the living room couch, but without the bad padding. The seats were surprisingly comfortable despite the lack of side support. A storage armrest divides the front seat and has fold-down cup holders. The rear seats are split and fold down to provide access to the trunk. There is storage space in the rear armrest. The legroom is a bit cramped.
