Approvals GM Dexos Motor Oil

GM Dexos 1

Designed with gasoline engines in mind GM Dexos 1 replaces the GM-LL-A-025, GM6094M and GM4718M specifications. This specification is usually recommended for GM vehicles built for the North American and Asian markets. Compared to ILSAC GF-5 it has stricter requirements regarding piston deposit formation, aeration, oxidation stability, wear, low-temperature pumpability and volatility.

GM Dexos 2

The GM Dexos 2 specification is meant to be the replacement for both GM-LL-A-025 (gasoline) and GM-LL-B-025 (diesel) specifications for the European market. Oils meeting GM Dexos 2 are required for vehicles manufactured from MY2011 onward but they are also backward compatible with older models. This specification is built on the ACEA C3 standard but also contains elements from the ILSAC GF-4 deposit formation test and low-temperature sludge build-up test.

GM-LL-A-025

Special GM approval for long-life engine oil for gasoline engines. Viscosity is SAE 0W-30. Product meets ACEA A3/B3. Drain interval can be as long as 30 000 kms. Recommended for vehicles built before MY2011.

GM-LL-B-025

Special GM approval for long-life engine oil for diesel engines. Viscosity is SAE 5W-40. Product meets ACEA A3/B3/B4. Drain interval can be as long as 50 000 kms. Recommended for vehicles built before MY2011.

Cadillac STS Generations

Cadillac STS 2011 (2011), 7 generation

The V-8 has been dropped, and the STS gets free standard scheduled oil changes, tire rotations, replacement of engine and cabin air filters, and multipoint vehicle inspection for four years or 50,000 miles through Cadillac’s Cadillac Premium Care Maintenance program.

Cadillac STS 2010 (2010), 6 generation

The 469-horsepower STS-V has been discontinued.

Cadillac STS 2009 (2009), 5 generation

В Unified styling gets a lot of talk these days, but few automakers have managed to create such a cohesive lineup of cars as Cadillac. Recently, the look has changed to include more substance and less angles for the sake of angles. The STS follows suit with a two-tone grille that matches the narrower air dam at the bottom. New side portals are behind the front fenders, and there’s a single-color bumper at the rear. 17-inch alloy wheels are standard and 18-inch wheels are optional. The sills and sway bars are decorated with subtle chrome stripes.

Cadillac STS 2008 (2008), 4 generation

The 2008 Cadillac STS, with its updated exterior, features and engine, might make some car buyers think this midsize sedan is one of the latest and greatest automakers — something like a redesigned CTS sedan or Escalade SUV. Under the hood of the STS is a 3.6-liter V-6 engine with direct fuel injection . The engine develops 302 hp. That’s 47 horsepower more than last year’s V-6 with the injector engine. A 320-hp Northstar V-8 engine is also available. The reported 18 hp difference is actually probably even less, since the V-8 has not been certified to the latest industry engineering standards, which tends to result in lower numbers. Both engines use a six-speed automatic transmission.

Cadillac STS 2007 (2007), 3 generation

Little is changed on Cadillac’s STS sedan for 2007. Engines include a 3.6-liter V-6 or 4.4-liter Northstar V-8, both shared with a wide range of Cadillac vehicles. The latter engine receives a new six-speed automatic transmission for 2007, replacing last year’s five-speed automatic.

Cadillac STS 2006 (2006), 2 generation

It’s the second of Cadillac’s high-performance V-series cars after the fast but flawed 2005 CTS-V. The exterior lines of the standard STS are sharply delineated in the modern Cadillac design idiom first established by the CTS, albeit in a more restrained version. The V version doesn’t look radically different, adding a modest deck spoiler at the rear and a striking wire mesh grille. The stance looks more aggressive, in part because Cadillac engineers installed low-profile Pirelli EMT tires on unique alloy wheels — 18 in the front, 19 in the rear. But in basic black (or “black raven,” as the marketing department dubbed it), it’s as close to a stealth sports sedan as you can find in this price/performance class.

Cadillac STS 2005 (2005), 1 generation

The interior of the 2005 Cadillac STS Northstar V-8 sedan is comfortable and well thought out. The seats are fully leather, soft and cushioned. The center console and door panel are decorated with attractive and sensible eucalyptus trim elements, and the vinyl parts of the dashboard are made of high-quality, soft-touch vinyl. The standard OnStar emergency communications system has long been the best in the industry. The STS V-8 is also available with Bluetooth wireless capability and advanced voice recognition. The valves are electronically controlled (variable valve timing) for more precise intake, combustion and air/fuel output, which helps increase power without a big jump in fuel consumption. Maximum torque is 315 lb-ft at 4,400 rpm. A 255-hp V-6 engine is available for the more frugal buyer.
