The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse was unveiled at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show.
It was designed as an 8-seat crossover MPV, but its look was closer to an SUV. Unusual for a vehicle of that size, the Traverse was available with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel-drive only. The 3.6-liter V6 was mated to the same gearbox, but it was available with all-wheel-drive.

Under the hood, Chevrolet kept the same 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engine paired to a standard 6-speed automatic. The car was available with either front- or all-wheel-drive. Four years later, the Traverse received an update both on the interior and the exterior. The vehicle had to follow a new design path than the original version. From the technical point of view, the Traverse came fitted with the same engine as before, only slightly updated.
