Ford F-150 Generations
Ford F-150 2015 (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021), 13 generation
The thirteenth generation marked the introduction of an all-new military grade, light-weight aluminum alloy body (most of its peers are constructed with steel). Ford expanded its engine options to include an available 2.7-liter EcoBoost with auto stop/start, a standard 3.5-liter V6, a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 and a 5.0-liter V8.
Ford F-150 2009 (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014), 12 generation
A redesigned F-150 was introduced for the 2009 model year and was awarded “North American Truck of the Year.” A bigger grille on the F-150 was reminiscent of the Super Duty lineup. Ford added the Platinum edition in 2009 (it featured 20-inch wheels and other luxury appointments) and the F-150 SVT Raptor in 2010. A new 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine debuted in 2011.
Ford F-150 2004 (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008), 11 generation
The F-Series was built on a new platform for the 2004 model year with rear shocks for improved ride quality. Both the regular and the SuperCab stretched six inches longer than the outgoing model for added passenger space. It also featured sharper character lines and four doors on all cab types (rear doors on regular cabs gave access to rear storage rather than back seats). The FX4 Off-Road package introduced in 2002 became its own trim and a sportier variant, previously known as the FX2 Sport, became the STX. The Super Duty trucks moved to a new platform for the 2008 model year and the F-450 (previously only available as a chassis-cab model) became a pickup sold directly by Ford.
