Approvals GM Dexos Motor Oil
GM Dexos 1
Designed with gasoline engines in mind GM Dexos 1 replaces the GM-LL-A-025, GM6094M and GM4718M specifications. This specification is usually recommended for GM vehicles built for the North American and Asian markets. Compared to ILSAC GF-5 it has stricter requirements regarding piston deposit formation, aeration, oxidation stability, wear, low-temperature pumpability and volatility.
GM Dexos 2
The GM Dexos 2 specification is meant to be the replacement for both GM-LL-A-025 (gasoline) and GM-LL-B-025 (diesel) specifications for the European market. Oils meeting GM Dexos 2 are required for vehicles manufactured from MY2011 onward but they are also backward compatible with older models. This specification is built on the ACEA C3 standard but also contains elements from the ILSAC GF-4 deposit formation test and low-temperature sludge build-up test.
GM-LL-A-025
Special GM approval for long-life engine oil for gasoline engines. Viscosity is SAE 0W-30. Product meets ACEA A3/B3. Drain interval can be as long as 30 000 kms. Recommended for vehicles built before MY2011.
GM-LL-B-025
Special GM approval for long-life engine oil for diesel engines. Viscosity is SAE 5W-40. Product meets ACEA A3/B3/B4. Drain interval can be as long as 50 000 kms. Recommended for vehicles built before MY2011.

GMC Envoy Generations
GMC Envoy 2009 (2009), 11 generation
There are no significant changes for the 2009 GMC Envoy.
GMC Envoy 2008 (2008), 10 generation
For 2008, two-wheel-drive Envoy Denalis get 20-inch polished-aluminum wheels. The upscale Denali editions also feature honeycomb grilles and an integrated air dam to channel air to the engine. Interior appointments include Nuance leather seats with French seam stitching, and the front seats are heated.
GMC Envoy 2007 (2007), 9 generation
For 2007, little has changed on the Envoy aside from new colors and new 18-inch wheels on SLE and SLT trims. The new colors: Silvermist Metallic, Midnight Blue Metallic and Graphite Metallic.
GMC Envoy 2006 (2006), 8 generation
All 2006 models come standard with General Motors’ StabiliTrak electronic stability system. The regular Envoy’s 4.2-liter inline-six engine has slightly more power for 2006, and a 5.3-liter eight-cylinder engine is still available for Denali models. For this model year, Envoys with the V-8 engine received Displacement on Demand technology to improve fuel economy. The system was previously optional.
GMC Envoy 2005 (2005), 7 generation
Envoy is available in two lengths – the regular five-passenger model and the extended Envoy XL with third-row seats. The Denali package is available in both variants. The Envoy Denali features premium Bilstein shock absorbers and load-leveling suspension, making it one of the best SUVs on the market. And thanks in part to larger tires and P245 / 65R-17 wheels, it also handles well.
GMC Envoy 2004 (2004), 6 generation
The Envoy XUV seats five people. Payload is 95.2 cubic feet with the rear seat down and 49 cubic feet with the rear seat up. Payload ranges from 1,150 pounds (four-wheel drive V-8) to 1,305 pounds (four-wheel drive V-8). Depending on equipment, the Envoy XUV can be equipped to tow up to 6,400 pounds. The fuel supply is 25 gallons of gasoline. Regular unleaded gasoline is fine.
GMC Envoy 2003 (2003), 5 generation
Style-wise, the Envoy’s interior will blow your mind. The interior is spacious and filled with less plastic than the GMs we’ve had in the past. Brushed nickel accents everywhere – console, dashboard – and wood accents give the SLT a bit of class. The headsets are fully adjustable, and the front seats have lumbar and power options for comfort. One interesting addition and one word of warning: this year’s Envoy and Envoy XL even get larger fuel tanks to increase range between fill-ups. But be prepared to spend the money.
GMC Envoy 2002 (2002), 4 generation
The 2002 GMC Envoy XL has body construction and many components very similar to the less expensive Chevrolet TrailBlazer. But the Envoy is more than a badge design job, which boils down to using different nameplates on identical cars and trucks. The Envoy is equipped with anti-slip underbody plates. A body-on-frame design with a new, stiffer frame contributes to better handling and helps maintain stability in unstable driving conditions. Its large 17-inch-diameter cast aluminum wheels, shod in Michelin premium tires, improve its stability. The 270-horsepower V-6 Envoy engine is more than enough to take it out of the box.
GMC Envoy 2000 (2000), 3 generation
Envoy is equipped with a powerful 4.3-liter V-6 engine with 190 horsepower. The only transmission available is a four-speed automatic. An electronically controlled all-wheel drive system is standard on the Envoy. General Motors makes great engines, and this is one of the best. With the 4.3-liter engine, you get V-8 performance with V-6 economy.
