Approvals ILSAC Motor Oil
ILSAC GF-1
The ILSAC GF-1 standard indicates the oil meets both API SH and the Energy Conserving II (EC-II) requirements. It was created in 1990 and upgraded in 1992 and became the minimum requirement for oil used in American and Japanese automobiles.
ILSAC GF-2
ILSAC GF-2 replaced GF-1 in 1996. The oil must meet both API SJ and EC-II requirements. The GF-2 standards requires 0W-30, 0W-40, 5W-20, 5W-30, 5W-40, 5W-50, 10W-30, 10W-40 and 10W-50 motor oils to meet stringent requirements for phosphorus content, low temperature operation, high temperature deposits and foam control.
ILSAC GF-3
An ILSAC GF-3 an oil must meet both API SL and the EC-II requirements. The GF-3 standard has more stringent parameters regarding long-term effects of the oil on the vehicle emission system, improved fuel economy and improved volatility, deposit control, and viscosity performance. The standard also requires less additive degradation and reduced oil consumption rates over the service life of the oil.
ILSAC GF-4
ILSAC GF-4 is similar to the API SM service category, but it requires an additional sequence VIB Fuel Economy Test (ASTM D6837).
ILSAC GF-5
Introduced in October 2010 for 2011 and older vehicles, designed to provide improved high-temperature deposit protection for pistons and turbochargers, more stringent sludge control, improved fuel economy, enhanced emission control system compatibility, seal compatibility, and protection of engines operating on ethanol-containing fuels up to E85.
ILSAC GF-6
The ILSAC GF-6 specification is currently in development and will probably be divided into two sub-specifications. ILSAC GF-6A will be fully backward compatible with ILSAC GF-5 but would offer better fuel economy, better engine protection, and improved performance while maintaining durability. ILSAC GF-6B would deliver a similar performance as ILSAC GF-5A but will allow lower viscosity oils like xW-16, taking advantage of the fuel economy benefits offered by the new SAE 16 viscosity grade.

Suzuki Grand Vitara Generations
Suzuki Grand Vitara 3 Doors 2008 (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021), 1st generation
Suzuki updated the Grand Vitara/Escudo lineup in 2008, preparing the car for Euro 5 emissions standards and improving its appearance. Externally, the 2008 model featured a new front grille with curved horizontal bars instead of the straight ones used from 2005 to 2008. Rectangular headlights with clear lenses. The three-door version looked more sporty thanks to elongated rear quarters and a forward tilted B-pillar. Inside, the automaker improved safety with upgraded airbags. At the front, the bucket seats are equipped with side airbags to complement the dual front airbags. The redesigned center pillar features a circular digital display for the climate control unit on the underside and a new CD radio on the top. Under the hood, Suzuki replaced or upgraded the engines. It dropped the previous 2.7-liter V-6 and installed a 3.2-liter from GM instead. For the European market, the automaker offered a choice of two gasoline engines and one turbodiesel engine from Renault.
Suzuki Grand Vitara 5 Doors 2008 (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014), 4st generation
In 2008 the SUV received a minor facelift and had two new engines added to its line-up, the 2.4L and the 3.2L V6 petrol units. The Suzuki Grand Vitara received the prestigious Consumer Guide Automotive Best Buy award for being a refined on road-handling machine and a rugged off-road heavy-duty performance car. The Vitara combines unexpected on-road refinement with an aggressive dose of off-road capability. With its powerfull V6 engine and four wheel drive the Suzuki Grand Vitara is capable of reaching heights that were untouchable before.
Suzuki Grand Vitara 5 Doors 2005 (2005, 2006, 2007), 3st generation
Suzuki introduced the third generation Grand Vitara/Escudo in 2005, and it became one of the best budget SUVs in its class. By abandoning the rounded shapes of the second-generation Grand Vitara, Suzuki boosted sales dramatically. The new design featured angular headlights and side windows. Widened wheel arches gave the car an off-road look, even though it was not as tough an SUV as its predecessors. The front bumper was rounded and had two grilles, one between the headlights and the other lower on the front, flanked by fog lights. At the rear, the manufacturer kept the spare tire mounted on the rear door with a side hinge. The 2005 Grand Vitara/Escudo was only offered with five seats and a large trunk. The dashboard was Swift-style with a “three cylinder” design where the speedometer was in the middle, the tachometer was on the left, and the fuel and temperature gauges were on the right. The LCD display also showed on-board computer data on fuel consumption, average speed, and distance. Under the hood, Suzuki installed a wide range of engines from 125 hp to 185 hp paired with a five-speed manual transmission as standard.
