Volkswagen Jetta 2019 (2019, 2020, 2021), 7 generation
The seventh generation of the Jetta moved to Volkswagen’s Modular Transverse Matrix architecture, growing in size and powered by a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder paired to an eight-speed automatic with 147 horsepower. The GLI debuted with the same 228-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged engine as the Golf GTI. It has adaptive suspension and unique 18-inch wheels.
Volkswagen Jetta 2011 (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), 6 generation
The sixth-generation Jetta was still built by the same platform as the previous model, but it had a longer wheelbase. It was powered by a 2.0-liter engine with 115 horsepower. VW downgraded some of the comfort features and materials to cut costs (for example, leather was no longer an option, only leatherette). The wagon variant was also dropped. In 2013, VW added a Turbo Hybrid that coupled a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine with a 27-horsepwoer electric motor for a combined output of 170 horsepower. A Jetta GLI with independent suspension and red contrast stitching in the interior was introduced for the 2014 model year. A limited sport edition Jetta debuted in 2015. In 2016, VW swapped the Hybrid model with a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine that made 148 horsepower.
Volkswagen Jetta 2006 (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010), 5 generation
The fifth-generation featured sleeker styling that included a new chrome grille. It debuted as a four-door sedan and was powered by a 2.5-liter inline five-cylinder engine. Higher trims and the GLI got a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The diesel engine was still avaialble. A rebadged five-door wagon called the Jetta SportWagen also debuted.
