Kia Sportage Generations
Kia Sportage 2017 (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020), 4 generation
The current, fourth-gen Sportage builds on the previous model’s European looks with new exotic and premium design features inside and out. A stiffer structure and revised suspension reduce NVH and improve handling, and a longer wheelbase and longer body improve interior space. LX and EX trims get a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that makes 181-horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque, while the SX Turbo trim gets a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four that makes 240 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The Sportage is the longest-running Kia nameplate in the U.S. marketplace.
Kia Sportage 2011 (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016), 3 generation
The 2011 Sportage debuted a radically different styling direction for the five-seat compact SUV, with a longer, lower, and wider stance. Available in Base, LX, or EX trims, standard features included air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, and power mirrors, and Bluetooth connectivity. A 176-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine is standard, and a 270-plus-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder is optional. Both pair with a six-speed automatic transmission and are available with front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
Kia Sportage 2005 (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009), 2 generation
Returning for its second run after a short hiatus, the Sportage used a new, less-rugged chassis design as part of its transformation into a mass-market compact SUV. Starting in 2005, it came in two powertrain flavors: 2.0-liter four-cylinder or 2.7-liter V6. A four-wheel drive system was an option. Standard features included power windows, power mirrors, a roof rack, an AM / FM / CD stereo system, and 16-inch wheels. All V6 models have cruise control standard. A 2009 refresh included new looks and more features.
Kia Sportage 1995 (1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002), 1 generation
The Sportage was the second vehicle Kia launched in the U.S. Based on a rugged existing platform, and it relied on a 139-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder paired with a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission for motivation. It was available in rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive versions.
