Lincoln MKX Generations
Lincoln MKX 2016 (2016, 2017, 2018), 3 generation
The second-generation Lincoln MKX was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in early 2015, and sales began later that year as the 2016 model. It was a step up from its predecessor. The luxury SUV brought new technology to the Lincoln brand, such as adaptive steering and optional adaptive LED headlights. New technology for the 2016 MKX continued and showed LED taillights and lamps in the mirrors that projected a welcome message downward when the driver was within 9 feet (3 meters) of the car. Despite the shape and large size of the SUV, the MKX was offered with front-wheel drive as standard, and all-wheel drive was available at extra cost. At least the standard transmission was a six-speed automatic.
Lincoln MKX 2011 (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016), 2 generation
A restyled midsize Lincoln SUV hit the market in 2011. On the outside, the grille was completely replaced with a larger, chrome, V-shaped design. It looks bold, whereas the predecessor looks bald. The standard wheels for 2011 were 18 inches, and additional 20-inch alloy wheels were also available. At the rear, a redesigned bumper made it easier to load the trunk. The rear was redesigned, and while the car had a long, wide red lighting element before the facelift, the taillights were smaller after the facelift, but not at all small. Inside, there were many upgrades. In the instrument cluster, the analog dials have been replaced by a color TFT screen that looks much better. The infotainment system has been updated with the latest version of Lincoln Sync with an improved CPU. The ventilation and audio system were also controlled by touchpads located under the infotainment touchscreen.
Lincoln MKX 2006 (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010), 1 generation
The Lincoln MKX was introduced in 2005 as the 2006 model and was a luxury version of the Ford Edge. It was offered as a smaller version of the Lincoln Aviator and entered into competition with other premium compact SUVs on the market, such as the Infiniti EX or Acura RDX. The standard wheels for the 2006 model were 18 inches, and optional 20-inch alloy wheels were available. The Lincoln MKX featured dual chrome exhaust tailpipes and LED-illuminated brake lights with a light bar crossing the rear door of the MKX. The interior features an instrument cluster with square dials for the speedometer and tachometer. The premium version for the Ford Edge featured better materials for the instrument panel, seats, and four-spoke multifunction steering wheel. Lincoln offered the MKX with a panoramic glass roof. The front seats were wide and the rear seats reclined to a 15-degree angle. A split folding rear seat back was installed to increase trunk space from 32 cubic feet (906 liters) to 69 cubic feet (1953 liters).
