Approvals Volkswagen Motor Oil

VW 500.00

Volkswagen’s specification for multigrade engine oils for gasoline engines with SAE 5W-X/10W-X viscosity. This is an “old” oil specification and is applicable to engines built before the model year 2000 (up to August 1999). Oils with an approval made post-March 1997 were given an alternative, later VW specification.

VW 501.01

Conventional motor oils are suitable for some VW engines built before MY 2000. This is an “old” oil specification and is applicable to engines built before the model year 2000 (up to August 1999). Oils with an approval made post-March 1997 were given an alternative, later VW specification.

VW 502.00

Oil for gasoline engines. The successor of VW 501.01 and VW 500.00 specification. Recommended for those who are subject to arduous conditions. It must not be used for any engines with variable service intervals or any which are referred to under other specifications.

VW 503.00

Long-life gasoline engine oil for VW cars with WIV (system for longer service intervals). Also meets ACEA A1, SAE 0W-30, or 5W-30 specification.

VW 503.01

This specification is specifically for Audi RS4, Audi TT, S3, and Audi A8 6.0 V12 models with outputs of more than 180bhp running with variable service intervals (30,000 km or 2 years). Now superseded by the VW 504.00 specification.

VW 504.00

The VW 504 00 specification supersedes the VW 503 00 and VW 503.01 specifications. VW 504 00 oils are suitable for engines meeting the demands of Euro IV emissions standards.

VW 505.00

Passenger car diesel engine oil specification, minimum performance level CCMC PD-2. Lists viscosity SAE 5W-50, 10W-50/60, 15W-40/50, 20W-40/50 requiring 13% max. evaporation loss and SAE 5W-30/40, 10W-30/40 requiring 15% max. evaporation loss.

VW 505.01

Special engine oil for VW turbo diesel engines with pump-injector-unit and for the V8 Common rail turbo diesel engines. Meets ACEA B4 SAE 5W-40 specification.

VW 506.00

These oils are suitable for diesel engines with extended service intervals of up to 50,000 km / 2 years. Not for use on engines with a single injector pump. The oil change is indicated by the electronic service indicator. Viscosity is SAE 0W30.

VW 506.01

These oils are especially for “Pumpe-Düse” (unit injector or “PD” engines) running on extended service intervals (30,000 – 50,000 km / 24 months). The oil change is indicated by the electronic service indicator.

VW 507.00

Low SAPS oils suitable for Euro 4 engines and almost all VAG diesel engines from 2000 onwards with extended service intervals, unitary injector pumps, and also Pumpe-Düse (“PD”) engines. Excludes V10, R5 engines, and VW Commercial vehicles without fitted DPF (diesel particulate filters) – these must use a 506 01 specification oil.

VW 508.00/509.00

This specification combo (508.00 for petrol, 509.00 for diesel) requires a 0W20 viscosity, fuel economy oil with long life additives. These specifications are NOT backward compatible with the earlier VW specifications. Recommended for the new 2.0 TFSI 140 kW and 3.0 TDI CR 160 kW VW/Audi engines.

Volkswagen T-Roc Generations

Volkswagen T-Roc R 2019 (2019, 2020, 2021), 1 generation

The Volkswagen T-Roc R, which uses the same powertrains as some of its big brothers in the “R” family, unexpectedly stands out among other otherwise rather bland, modern Volkswagen crossovers. The T-Roc R is by far the most powerful small SUV in the VW lineup. Its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine makes more than enough 300 horsepower and at least 400 Nm of torque. Combined with a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission and 4Motion all-wheel drive, this unit can accelerate the T-Roc R from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.8 seconds, while the crossover’s top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph). Volkswagen doesn’t seem to have cut any corners when it comes to equipment, as the model is available with a variety of driving assistance features, including a traffic-assist system, rear-drive warning and autonomous emergency braking with Front Assist. Somewhat surprisingly and definitely unlike the older R models, the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system can be disabled by the driver.

Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet 2019 (2019, 2020, 2021), 1 generation

In 2019, Volkswagen launched the T-Roc Cabriolet. The vehicle is 4.26 m (13.9 ft) long and has two doors and a canvas roof. The TT-Roc comes with the MQB platform, which means it can be equipped with a FWD or 4Motion all-wheel drive system. At launch, Volkswagen announced only 2wd, but that may change over time as the T-Roc is equipped with all-wheel drive. Inside, Volkswagen installed the latest MIB infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It offers seating for four people and a safety tipping mechanism that automatically triggers if a sensor detects a rollover threat. For the engine bay, Volkswagen has installed two gasoline engines: a 1.0-liter and a 1.5-liter, both turbocharged, with 115 and 150 hp, respectively. The latter can be equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. As for luggage, the T-Roc convertible can offer only 280 liters (9.8 cubic feet), enough for a few regular stores.

Volkswagen T-Roc 2017 (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021), 1 generation

In 2017, Volkswagen developed the compact T-Roc. The car is 4.2 meters (13.9 feet) long, enough to attract young customers. Inside, Volkswagen has installed everything young people need. First, it’s a minimalist design with simple horizontal lines. Then it added some features like Apple CarPlay plus the Android Auto infotainment unit. Then a color scheme and a TFT display for the instrument cluster. Finally they put in some normal seats with nice stitching. Not as comfortable around corners, but the kind of seats that are easy to get in and out of the car. The T-Roc was built on the same MQB platform that VW Group used on various vehicles. It added higher ground clearance and offered a wide range of engines and transmissions. The base model had three cylinders and, with a turbocharger, offered 116 hp and 200 Nm of torque and was front-wheel drive. However, the top version was the T-Roc R with 300 hp and a 2.0-liter TSI gasoline engine. And this was paired with a 7-speed DSG transmission (dual clutch) and was all-wheel drive. It was like a Golf R on stilts.
